Event Details

Pinot Noir gained notoriety after the 2004 movie “Sideways” spurred a huge increase in sales. The varietal has had increasing appeal and sales for a number of years, however, mostly due the ability of the wine to pair with many different types of food, its appeal as a wine for simple enjoyment and its light, subtly-fruity flavor.
But, what do we really know about Pinot noir from around the world? How do differences in growing climate, winemaker method and terroir affect wines from the Old World vs. the New World?
We’ll explore these differences when we focus only on this varietal at our October tasting, hosted by the Wine Consortium.  We’ll be led by Christa Velbel, a wine educator who has taught at the Robert Morris College Institute of Culinary Arts, travelers aboard Vantage Travel and Uniworld European wine cruises, readers of the trade, private and consumer publications in which her writing has appeared and many others.  Christa is a member of the Society of Wine Educators. That evening, our tasting will include “creative” appetizers created specifically to enhance our tasting experience.
The Wine Consortium, located in the South Side's Historic Motor Row, is a special retail wine store and wine bar offering very personal service and wines of quality and character which are priced to enjoy. All the principals involved are dedicated to the pleasures of wine and food.
Cost is $30/person before 8pm on Sunday, October 19th and $40 thereafter. We’ll also receive a 15% discount on all wine purchased or ordered that evening.
Space limits our participation to 40 people, so be sure to get your tickets early! Click the link below to register and buy tickets.
